Mobility and Patient Room Equipment

Our clients need to have accessibility and independence throughout their homes.  Some of our clients will walk using a two wheeled or four wheeled walker.  The four wheeled walkers come equipped with a seat so the client can take a rest in between walks.  As the client’s condition may worsen, there are various options for wheelchairs – manual self-propelled, manual push, and power.  An occupational therapist should be consulted to assist in determining the best choice.

Patient room equipment can include electric beds, super poles, assist bed rails, and overbed tables.  By having a height adjustable bed, it can allow the client to get in and out of bed a little easier and also allow a caregiver better access for bedside care.

Our clients can also get dressed independently through the use of electrically controlled wardrobes.

Various patient lifts can be utilized to assist with transfers – floor lifts and ceiling lifts are two of the most common.  Ceiling lifts can either be used by a caregiver or the client can also use the lift independently as long as they have the upper body strength to do so independently.  Training is always provided on the lifts to ensure all transfer are done safely.

Handrails and grab bars can be installed throughout the home – bedroom, bathroom, hallways.  These can be used to assist with walking throughout the home before utilizing a walker or wheelchair.
